Linseed contains dozens of nutrients: linoleic (omega-6), oleic acid (omega-9) and palmitic fatty acids, and more than half of the fat contained in linseed makes alpha linolenic acid (omega-3).
There are also vitamins B1, B2 and C, phytosterols, minerals and calcium, selenium, copper, iron, zinc, sodium, magnesium, phosphorus and potassium as well as vitamin E and carotene. Half of the fat contained in omega-3 fatty acid which makes the flax seeds the richest plant source of these fatty acids, even richer than for all of us well known sources - fish oil.

Smoothie with strawberry and flax seed
Ingredients:
- 1/2 banana
- 1/2 cup strawberries
- 1 cup soy milk
- 2 tablespoons flax seeds
Preparation: Put all the ingredients into the blender and blend until the mixture becomes compact. Serve immediately.
Smoothie of banana and flax seeds
Ingredients:
- 1 chopped banana
- 1/2 cup low fat milk
- 2 tablespoons flax seeds
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon of peanut butter
Preparation: Place all ingredients in blender
and blend until the mixture becomes compact.
